I love motion pictures – movies and series so to say. Especially when they are visually great and touch the deeper layers of the human mind. Yet what is touching your mind the most? It is the story, the images, or everything in between? Well, probably a mixture of them. And on top of that: literally the energy and the intentions behind them.
Symbols
When I was in college, I did some minors at the University of Amsterdam. One of them was Americanism. I loved the lectures about popular culture and the way it uses symbols to tell stories. And not just in the American culture, but in any storytelling culture or country – internationally we all do it. We would show you the Eiffel tower in a movie, and you already have your own ideas about the scene, placed in the story, without explicitly telling them. And when the main character is wearing a suit and tie, but also listens to music by playing his vinyl records, you can already establish your own nuances about the character. But I believe there is even more to it.
Adopting Ideas
Part of storytelling is also about making your viewer adopt some of your own ideas: some can help to build up your story, others can be used to bring new concepts into their mind. Hence, people can be influenced accordingly.
I always have to laugh on the inside, when people say – or the makers themselves – that movies and series are totally fictitious and every resemblance to real people or events are coincidental. If they were considered utterly fictitious, then why – for instance – don’t we see movies about Russia saving our world from an American villain or Western government? Or series about European countries or Great Britain hacking Asian countries, in order to do evil? Well, simply because motion pictures tell a narrative, and ideally one that the film makers want to convey.
And of course one could say: but a story needs to be credible, in order to be considered good. Well, what about movies that concern aliens, magical creatures, and time travelling? Do they portray reality? Not really, right? So we could easily make certain movies and say: these Russian heroes and British villains are just fiction. But we simply don’t.
Reading Pictures
Something different, but also relevant to my story: I love photography too. I used to take pictures myself with a Canon DSLR, and when there are interesting exhibitions to visit (especially abroad), I will count myself in. And once I became more aware of my clairvoyance and my abilities as an empath, I discovered that pictures could be seen in a totally different way as well: as containers of energy.
It’s not my specialty, but I noticed some funny things when I was looking at pictures. Especially when I tune in; or with more attention, and not just visually. For instance, once I was exposed to a photo of a person on FB, since FB thought that I would know the person due to a common friend, a former colleague of mine. The person was a (formerly known) movie actress, whom I knew because of her acting career, but also because I had seen her once in the flesh, at some magazine event. My mind wandered around, going back to this event and the encounter, and suddenly I had the feeling there was more at stake regarding this person and our common friend.
So when I met my former colleague, he even started talking about the actress before I had the chance to ask him about her. He didn’t know her personally, but for some strange reason she had briefly appeared in his inner circle, and around the same time that I had tuned in into her photo. Like I had been watching at the picture of a Hollywood actress, reading the energy behind it , feeling some connection between her and some ex-colleague of mine, and ending up hearing that one of his best friends had some dates with this particular Hollywood actress. Just saying.
Sense Her Energy
Another anecdote revolves around a different friend, whom I hardly saw and who traveled a lot for work. Playing with my tuning skills for practice, I had to think of him out of the blue, and suddenly I felt the energy of a woman – someone I didn’t know. I could sense her energy well, and because of that I was kinda able to construct an image of her. And the office she was in. Because of the office – which was a similar office to my friend’s – I thought: well, maybe she was his (law) client.
At some point I bumped into her picture on FB – immediately assuming it was her, because I could sense the exact same energy as I had sensed before. She was living in a city abroad, and it might have been her, I figured. Also because of her job: it turned out that she had the same profession as my friend’s. Hence they were colleagues. And fun fact, according to his recent FB posts back then: he had visited this foreign city a few times, during a couple of months, because of his business in this country. Probably she was with the same company, but abroad, working on the same business case as he did. Funny.
Fall Prey To Ideas
My point is motion pictures or series can influence you. They entertain you, but at the same they might frame some people, cultures, or ideas. Research shows that you need to believe part of the idea, in order to believe the rest of the idea – or more parts of the idea. And if we can sense the energy behind pictures or motion pictures indeed, then we could fall prey to ideas even more – or from a positive standpoint: get inspired even deeper. Just some food for thought.
One of my favorite movies is Inception. Leonardo DiCaprio plays a professional thief who can steal ideas from people, by infiltrating the subconscious of his targets. And because of that he got a unique offer to plant an idea into the subconscious of a business man’s target. So the other way around.
The movie is filled with intrigue and psychological twists and turns. And the beautiful French actress Marion Cotillard is playing Leonardo’s wife. Guess that’s not a trivial part of the movie at all – maybe even one of the main reasons why I love the movie. I mean, let’s face it: who doesn’t want to connect with Marion’s energy, while getting immersively educated in the field of planting ideas in your subconscious? And as a bonus: real connections with mrs Cotillard can possibly spring up. But that… is merely coincidental.
